Stormy red fantasy...

2015

“I am not an abstract painter. I am not interested in the relationship between form and color. The only thing I care about is the expression of man’s basic emotions: tragedy, ecstasy, destiny.” Mark Rothco I'm very much influenced by the environment and the natural world, the oceans and the atmosphere we live in and try to keep that connection with the artwork i create by using carefully considered and environmentally friendly materials. http://vandaelechristoph.weebly.com/

A piece of heaven...

http://vandaelechristoph.weebly.com/ For Christoph, the “movement of colour and shapes” is the source of his work’s form and energy. he finds those colours and shapes to be “just like the constantly moving landscapes we all live in,” and his dynamic abstract images capture the spirit of those landscapes. In his paintings, done in oils and acrylics on linnen and canvas, he lets his colours flow in a way that gives them a life of their own – such that the paint itself often seems to be in motion. he says that he fell in love with oils because of their “smooth, buttery texture and beautiful pigments” and that interest in texture contributes to the flowing, liquid quality of his images. For all of their energy and spontaneity, however, Christoph’s works are the result of a meticulous process. he builds his paintings by applying multiple layers and thicknesses of paint, using palette knives and bruhes as well as other implements to give each image a powerful physicality and varied surface texture. The resulting pieces pulse with life on many different levels and create an engaging, many-leveled experience. http://vandaelechristoph.weebly.com/

Orange and blue...

http://vandaelechristoph.weebly.com/ Christoph's paintings are complex, often involving many built up layers for texture and depth. A variety of colours and techniques are used and he likes to be quite vigorous and expressive with his brush and pallet and movement of the medium. Christoph produces a variety of sizes in his artworks but prefers larger scale pieces “I believe one large dynamic piece makes a statement in a room and therefore commands the design and colour palette of the space. http://vandaelechristoph.weebly.com/

My inspiration for my abstract work I get mostly from the work of Jackson Pollock, Barnett Newman, Leon Berkowitz , Ad Reinhardt and Mark Rothco ... all top artists which let the color tell it's story... Sometimes also called Color Field Painting... It is my great and secret dream to ever walk in their footsteps ...

A masterpiece...

Dynamic yet intriguingly subtle, Christoph's art becomes a meditative and sensory experience, developing an emotional bond with the viewer through the depth of presence that each piece possesses. Immersed in the mindfulness of Christoph's mark is a visual mantra of color and motion, layering a sense of place and deep feeling into a bold abstraction of color and texture.  The artist paints with vigor and variety, using brushes, palette knives, and hands to build each piece as he allows the journeys of his life to guide and direct his work. Christoph creates his expressive abstract paintings in mixed media on canvas, diving into each surface with a pure joy and exuberance for the rich hues and tactile qualities of his medium. Christoph creates art that is global in nature and appeal, being visually informed and inspired by his extensive travels abroad. His works have received worldwide attention. http://vandaelechristoph.weebly.com/

Cold Blue Forest...

“Pictures must be miraculous.”  Mark Rothco Although my images appears abstract and non-objective, I can't help it, but i see the natural world in an "abstract" sort of way. When I look outside "abstract" compositions are everywhere - texture of bare branches, light falling on snow, movement of cerulean to cobalt across the sky, particles of sand glowing on a beach.  When I feel inside, there is nothing but movement, vibration, pulsing, pressure, heat and tingling. When I paint, I use every visual means available, whether it's colour, paint, lines, shapes, texture or illusions of nature to invoke an inner sensation. For me, evoking sensations is the ultimate aim of painting. It is through our equanimous awareness of these sensations, that leads us to understanding our deepest reality. The act of painting helps me understand the mysterious natural laws which govern nature and myself.  http://vandaelechristoph.weebly.com/

The challenge of abstract painting is to create meaningful images that people can communicate with, connect with and find a story in. The aim is to reconfigure the abstract elements in a credible way so that they become believable. Through my creative process I seek to find something new, to reveal hidden emotions and give them tangible form with color. While painting, there is no separation between intellect, emotion and act. Through gestural arcs of colour and spontaneity I manipulate the canvas’ surface, building a harmonic stratum of vivid colour, line and texture. I consistently challenge myself to produce exciting developments in composition, methodology and technique. Through passion, deep conviction, and directness and openness in communication, I aim to captivate the viewer long after the exhibition is over. http://vandaelechristoph.weebly.com/
